Learning excursion of the first classes to the Nature Info Center

  • How do you go stalking? What does a hedgehog eat?
  • What does a hedgehog do in winter?

In order to find answers to these questions, all first grade classes visited the expert Ms. Wonner at the Nature Info Center at Wobach in November.

We went on the hunt quietly and with our eyes wide open and discovered a fox, a deer, a hare, a hedgehog and a few other animals. Unfortunately, hedgehogs cannot find food such as beetles, spiders, worms, frogs or snails in winter.

That’s why it sleeps in a nest. And so the search was on for the group that could build the warmest nest for a hedgehog. The teams worked with great motivation and enthusiasm. A film can filled with hot water was then hidden in each cave built to represent the hedgehog. After a while, the water temperature was measured again to see which “hedgehog” was still the warmest.

The morning flew by and everyone had a lot of fun!

Many thanks to Ms. Wonner, to the parents who made this excursion possible and, of course, to all the accompanying adults!
